CSV import category column not working
When importing CSV which has category column, the transactions do not have the specified category.
I have typed the categories exactly as they are shown in the app, even tried path to subcategory, e.g. "Shopping/Electronics", but the category is still wrong after import.
Hello there,
Our product team is looking into this. Thank you.

Same here. I export from my account and import into my wife's one and a lot of movements are marked unknown. This is a key feature to me

Any updates? I need to import same xls / csv Wallet app generated (new account to change currency after moving).
But now there's no option to choose category at all.

This is (unfortunately) valid also for XLS import. The preview shows categories correctly but it's all messed up after the import - it's either unknown or completely different category.

When I was importing data to Wallet I added strings like "Category: Groceries" etc. to detalis/comments.
As a second step I created automatic rules for all categories (eg. If record has text as above assign it to category Groceries).
It is a lot of manual work, but when you have thousands of records to import it works and saves a lot of time.

I agree as well. If the category column from the import matches a name of an existing category, the transaction should be assigned to this category.
I'm trying to migrate data from another app and missing the category matching feature is preventing me from doing it.
There aren't that many apps that support data import at all, so if this works properly, you can easily accumulate new users, which are unhappy of their current finance manager app and are looking for an alternative, that provides an easy switch.

I have this issue as well. it's not matching with the correct category when the name is the same in the column as in the webapp.

Totally agree. I tried several times to force the categories I want to use when importing my historical data but the tool does its own classification ignoring my category column where values match the category names of the app.
